O projecto de iluminação urbana e ambiental da Plaza d'El Carmen é um projecto que surge no quadro do Programa de Iluminação Urbana e Ambiental para o Centro Histórico de San Luis Potosi no México. Nesta praça situam-se um conjunto de monumentos importantes para a actividade cívica e cultural da cidade. Assim, foi nosso objectivo desenvolver um conjunto de intervenções que assegurassem uma unidade e coerência viusal a este multifacetado espaço urbano. A vivência e a apropriação desta praça sugere uma intervenção cuidada reforçando a qualidade arquitectónica dos monumentos que a configuram.
Plaza del Carmen is a urban lighting project designed under the main guide lines of the Lighting Design Strategy for the Historic center of San Luis Potosi in México. Three major monuments are placed at the urban square of Plaza del Carmen. Reinforcing the main features of each monument assuring the unity and scale of the urban space was the major challange. This was the frist lighting design project done with this scale in America Latina. Introducing the latest and the top lighting technology a new and creative atmosphere is promoting all the city outside events mainly concentrated at this particular square. All the installation required a very high precision and delicate location of each luminaire. The light quality is assured by lamps with a high colour rendering index promoting materials and colours. The light balance of each monument within the square respects the hierarchy and the spatial relation between them.
